Perennial Investment Partners is a specialist, active investment management firm, comprising a suite of specialist investment management boutiques: Perennial Value Management, Perennial Growth Management, Perennial Fixed Interest, Perennial International and Perennial Real Estate Investments.
In 1999, Perennial pioneered the boutique partnership approach, building a suite of boutique investment firms on the basis of sharing equity ownership with their investment professionals. We now invest over $20 billion on behalf of our wholesale and retail clients. We believe that this ownership structure changes the focus from simply investing to a shared passion and focus. The future success of Perennial is dependant on our ability to deliver performance - the alignment of interests with our investors.
Perennial's achievements are attributable to the success of our approach to a partnership business model. Our investment boutiques have won numerous Fund Manager of the Year awards and are often ranked highly amongst their respective peers in delivering superior investment performance to our clients.
Our investment philosophy
Investors Interests First:
Key investment and business professionals in Perennial have the opportunity, over the longer term, to earn equity in their respective businesses. The ability to earn equity is subject to the delivery of investment outcomes which meet or exceed investor expectations. We believe that this environment creates a strong alignment of interest between the goals of investors and our investment professionals.
Active Investment Management:
Perennial believes that investment markets are not fully efficient, causing asset prices to deviate from "fair value". Through careful research of investment fundamentals and the application of a disciplined investment process, market inefficiencies can be identified and exploited by experienced investment professionals applying an active investment approach.
Independent Research:
The cornerstone of the investment process of each of Perennial's boutiques is proprietary in-house research. Perennial conducts independent first-hand research on all securities before any can be included in our investment portfolios. A sharing of knowledge within Perennial's suite of boutiques ensures that all of our teams are up to date with domestic and global issues.
Long-term investing:
Perennial's investment professionals often identify investment opportunities that have good prospects over the medium to long term. It can often take months, and sometimes years, for the investment opportunities to deliver the desired results. All the Perennial portfolios are positioned for long-term investment performance outcomes. Our objective is to add value over the medium to long term, relative to a recognised market benchmark, in a risk efficient manner. Many of Perennial's capabilities have a proven and consistent long-term track record with good results relative to our peers.
Environmental, Social, Ethical and Labour considerations
Perennial is a signatory to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investing (UNPRI). Perennial believes that environmental, social, and corporate governance issues can have an effect on the performance of companies and influence the performance of our investment portfolios (to varying degrees across companies, sectors, regions, asset classes and through time). Perennial adopts the UNPRI for the equity component of our Trusts. As astute investors, we believe that we have a role to play in ensuring the best custodianship of assets in which our Trusts invest, on behalf of our clients. All of our Trusts consider environmental, social, ethical and labour considerations where it financially affects our investment. Perennial has engaged the services of SIRIS, to provide research used in the construction of the Perennial Socially Responsive Trust. SIRIS is a specialist research group dedicated to analysis and assessment of corporate social responsibility and sustainability, including governance.
